Biographie

Katy Derbyshire wurde 1973 in London geboren und lebt seit 1996 in Berlin. Sie übersetzt deutschsprachige Gegenwartsliteratur ins Englische, schreibt über deutsche Bücher und unterrichtet literarisches Übersetzen.

Sieben Jahre lang war sie Mit-Herausgeberin der Onlinezeitschrift no-mans-land.org (zusammen mit Isabel Cole und Catherine Hales bzw. Alistair Noon) und ist bis heute Mit-Gastgeberin des gleichnamigen Berliner Translation Labs. Ihre sporadisch erscheinenden Blogs Love German Books und die bis 2014 erschienene Kolumne Going Dutch with German Writers sind im Internet zu finden. Zusammen mit Florian Duijsens organisiert und moderiert sie die Dead Ladies Show im Berliner ACUD – ein feministischer Erzählabend über historische Frauenfiguren, gefördert vom Berliner Senat. Mit Rachel McNicholl und Joanna Walsh initiierte sie den Warwick Prize for Women in Translation, der 2017 zum ersten Mal verliehen wurde.
